15/11/20 - ANNOTATED SUMMARY (FIRST DRAFT)
Wattsense © 2020. (n.d.). BMS - Break Through Chaotic IT Infrastructure. Wattsense | The New Generation of Building Connectivity. https://wattsense.com/bms
In a print advertisement by Wattsense, a technology company that builds Information Technology (IT) infrastructure for property management, the use of Building Management System (BMS), a “computer-based system installed in buildings” to help control and monitor equipment like “air-conditioning, heating, ventilation, lighting, power systems, among others” is implemented. Wattsense emphasised that Heat Ventilation Air-Conditioning (HVAC) systems “need maintenance check-ups” several times a year. By having an application that helps HVAC professionals monitor and control the systems remotely, this can significantly help “reduce maintenance and reparation fees”. Additionally, Wattsense claims that BMS can also save thirty percent of “building industry energy consumption”.
Our analysis on the above-mentioned print advertisement provides valuable insight for us, illustrating that a similar product warns HVAC users beforehand of any faulty systems, thus directing our attention towards BMS. With extensive research, our first option is to examine and compare the methods practised as well as the different types of sensors installed for fault detection. The other option is to shift our focus into applying our findings and ideas onto BMS. As a result, we could potentially develop and possibly integrate new and improved features into the system.
Hi Dennis,
ReplyDeleteReading your summary is a pleasure. It would be great if you could elaborate the method(s) BMS uses to determine when and how it detects and controls the HVAC systems when it is about to and, going to fail.

Don
Hi Dennis,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your effort in writing this summary, I really enjoyed reading it. I feel that it is very well written with lots of important information about the BMS system. I believe these information will be able to help in the team's report.
