“While all engineers should have good communication skills, global engineers face additional challenges, making effective communication an imperative.” Debra Kraft, Careers Content Writer, Demand Media (2016)

In the engineering world, we always learn that our language are in terms of SI units and numbers. While i can agree to that statement, I still can understand why Debra Kraft made his statement.

We look at construction sites, a place where we will frequent from time to come, a simple "yes or no" answer could be the cause of a fatal accident. Misinterpreting the words from your higher ups could lead to a child losing her parent.

On a Global scale, where people from different countries come together to work on a project, it is very important that they fully understand the pointers that are made by each meetings.

  1. Thanks, Dennis, for a detailed, complete answer. You've given a good sense of the idea of 'global.'
